All About Me Hi. My name is Katelyn, and I love animals. I am 12 years old and a 6th grader at Oak Hill Elementary. My dad is a sheriff and my mom is a physical therapist. I have a 17 year old brother named Brandon, and a dog, cat, and hamster too. I love Basketball and I have recently played on my school's basketball team. I have played a little tennis and volleyball too. I love to read, and this may sound crazy, but I love like every single major book series. Hunger Games, Divergent, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and even Twilight. I also love music, and I am in Blue Grass's Children's Choir and I was in the school play in 5th grade. I want to be either a veterinarian or a police officer when I grow up, and if I can't decide I'll be an animal cop.
Why Use Technology in Classrooms Kids today sometimes find teachers boring, we like technology because we are willing to embrace it, not fear it. Teachers that use technology find it easier than regular teaching and they connect with students more. I love a game called Minecraft. Why, you may ask? Because it's interactive. Almost everything about it I can change or work with. That's what teachers need to do, because kids like interaction.
Now, do I feel like I'm being interacted with if a teacher stands with a white board at the front of the classroom while I sit in the back? No, not really. I do feel like I'm being interacted with when my teacher, Mr. Spradley, introduced a new tech tool to our class where we could write our own blogs, Kid Blog. That's because he took an effort to connect with us, while most adults now don't use technology, and if they do, that's pretty cool to us. So, when teachers use technology in classrooms, students feel more connected and involved in class, and that is a step in the right direction.
